BrewLights Sets Record raising over $195,000 for Lincoln Park Zoo

The Chicagoland distributor shines a light for Lincoln Park Zoo by exceeding previous year’s proceeds for the second straight year

(CHICAGO; Dec. 14, 2016)— On the first of December, under more than 2 million luminous holiday lights, beer enthusiasts and holiday revelers came together to enjoy what has become a holiday tradition in Chicago—the third annual BrewLights. Chicagoland beer distributor Louis Glunz Beer, Inc. and Lincoln Park Zoo’s Auxiliary Board teamed up to host this charitable event in support of the zoo. This year, 4,500 tickets were sold, raising more than $195,000 in support of the zoo’s capital campaign, The Pride of Chicago. The BrewLights celebration also honored the 22nd anniversary of ZooLights Presented By ComEd and PowerShares QQQ by Invesco.

The light behind BrewLights, Glunz Director of Marketing Jennifer Faulk, was thrilled at the success of this year’s event, “Our family feels very strongly about giving back to our community. We would have never imagined our idea of marrying the zoo’s holiday lights display with a beer sampling event would raise over $450,000 in three years for the zoo.”

BrewLights featured a dozen local craft, seasonal, and international beers distributed by Louis Glunz Beer, Inc. on tap throughout the zoo. Attendees enjoyed a variety of holiday activities including roaming animal exhibits under the 2 million holiday lights that illuminated the zoo, free carousel rides, ice sculptures, live music at Kovler Lion House, and more. This year’s event made a few minor tweaks for the overall guest experience, including reorganized beer stations with additional locations throughout the zoo and access to all animal buildings.

With the most successful BrewLights yet, Louis Glunz Beer, Inc. and Lincoln Park Zoo look forward to continuing their partnership to help support the Chicago landmark zoo.
