Submit original Stiegl beer-themed artwork to www.stieglart.com starting June 1;
Discover The Art of Brewing at artist installations this summer in the Chicagoland area
(LINCOLNWOOD, IL; June 5, 2014)—Quenching the thirst of artists in Chicago and beyond, Louis Glunz Beer, Inc. and Stiegl launch a new contest, calling on artists to submit their original artwork that is either constructed of, inspired by, or captures the essence of the Stiegl brand or logo. Stiegl, an avid supporter of the arts, plans on showcasing the works through its social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google+, as well as promoting a select number of artists at multiple art installations this summer in Chicago.
“As avid supporters of the arts in Europe, the Stiegl Brewery is thrilled to be encouraging artist in the United States to capture the spirit of our brewery,” says Claudia Nussbaumer, product export manager for Stiegl.
A note on the steps in the Stiegl logo: The name Stiegl means “steps” because the Austrian brewery was founded as the Prew bey der Stiegen, or “brewery by the staircase.” The name refers to its location in the Salzburg city center next to the small river where the brewers had to descend down the steps to retrieve water for the brewing process.
To submit artwork, interested contestants can visit www.stieglart.com and complete entry form, which includes uploading a photo (up to 2 MB) or a video link of their pieces. The contest accepts submissions in all mediums, but the entries must be the entrant’s original work and must capture the essence of Stiegl, whether it’s constructed using Stiegl materials or inspired by the beer. Submitted artwork may be used by Glunz and Stiegl for display, marketing, and promotional purposes including but not limited to posters, press releases, articles, and on www.stieglart.com and related social media channels. Artists maintain all copyrights associated with the submissions, and The Art of Brewing contest will provide attribution in any marketing materials.
Events for Stiegl: The Art of Brewing
To celebrate the website contest launch, Glunz will host events with featured artists’ works throughout the summer in Chicagoland. The celebration of the first installation, a mural by Sean Henderson, takes place at Warren’s Ale House (51 Town Square, Wheaton; 630.462.5126) on Friday, June 6. Glunz and Stiegl invite the community and art enthusiasts to come see Henderson’s mixed medium mural of the Chicago skyline, made from Stiegl bottle caps and paint. The mural covers the ceiling of Warren’s Ale House and showcases the Stiegl bottle replacing two of the skyline buildings.
Artist Sean Henderson received his degree from Columbia College in photography, also focusing on illustration and graphic design. He freelances as a photographer, but enjoys utilizing his creative talent on artistic projects that challenge his skills, like Stiegl: The Art of Brewing. Henderson will be available at both events for interviews.
